Virgin has Vorbis

I was looking for something completely different (a car CD player with Ogg Vorbis support – no luck, unfortunately) when I saw a link to the Virgin Radio website, to a page in which they announced they were going to start an Ogg stream in 2003. Ogg Vorbis is a free (in both the beer and speech senses) audio compression format.
I used to listen to Virgin quite a lot back in the Sixth Form (that’s school from age 16-18 for those outside the UK, or too young to know) but either they changed or I did, in any case I pretty much lost interest. There was also the fact that, outside London, the station was only available in mono. Still, with a set on online streams (with a choice of Ogg and MP3) maybe I’ll give them a go. Perhaps the BBC will catch up one day and switch from Real Audio? Anyway, if you’re interested, see the info for listening to Virgin. The main station is mostly mainstream rock and pop (avoiding the more annoying stuff, on the whole) and a mix of old tunes.
