SVG is coming

It occurred to me, on obtaining the new version 1.5 Firefox that with 1.5 came partial SVG (scalable vector graphics) support. This open standard, overseen by the World Wide Web Consortium allows vector graphics to be defined on the web, but much more than this, it allows animation and interaction that has led to comparisons with Macromedia’s Flash technologies.

But particularly eye catching, and most impressive in terms of interactivity, is the implementation of Tetris. Gah, that takes me back!
So, now all we have to do is wait for Internet Explorer to catch up, allowing SVG to catch on and a whole new world awaits – I wouldn’t recommend holding your breath… but the future is coming, and it’s scalable.
